Shia LaBeouf forced filming of his new movie to stop after insisting a snake be moved.

The 22-year-old actor was delighted when a 6ft rattlesnake was discovered on the set of 'Transformers: Revenge', despite the rest of the cast scattering in horror when it slithered into view.

Shia said: "Hey, look at that snake. This is great! Hi Barney!"

The actor then grabbed a broom handle and started gently poking the snake, while still referring to it as "Barney".

Shia LaBeouf is reportedly heading to rehab.

The 'Transformers' star - who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) after a car accident late last month - is said to be considering a visit to a rehabilitation clinic to combat his alcohol addiction.

A source told US TV show 'Extra': "He is thinking about going to rehab. Judges like to see it."

The 'Transformers' actor often attracts attention from the opposite sex, but struggles to capitalise on any opportunities for romance.

He said: "I am enjoying myself. But I'm not great with women, dude. I'm not the guy who goes, 'OK, back to my room.' I'm not a closer."

Shia also admits he feels he has "sold out" by becoming a Hollywood star.

Shia LaBeouf's 'Transformers' co-star Isabel Lucas was reportedly a passenger in his car when he crashed on Sunday (27.07.08).

It has been claimed Isabel suffered minor injuries in the collision which occurred at 3am in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Shia - who suffered injuries to his head and knee and required "extensive surgery" to his hand - was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI).

Shia LaBeouf was forced to attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings by his parents when he was a child.

The 'Transformers' star - who stars alongside Harrison Ford in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' - regularly went to meetings with his father Jeffrey, who was addicted to alcohol and drugs.

He said: "I grew up around a lot of aggressive guys. My parents used to take me to AA meetings when I was very young. So I know aggression, I know insanity."

The 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' star grew up in a part of Los Angeles which was rife with gang crime, and witnessed violence first-hand during the race riots in 1992.

He said: "I saw people get stabbed across the street in the park on a daily basis."

The 'Transformers' actor has revealed he paid his dad Jeffrey £400-a-week to spend time with him on the set of Disney TV series 'Even Stevens' when he was a teenager.

LaBeouf, who plays Indiana Jones' sidekick Mutt in latest film 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', says his mother was in a "state of shock" when he took her to the set to meet his co-star Ford.

He said: "My mother has a huge crush on Harrison so I brought her on set and he was very nice to her. But she couldn't believe this was going on!"
