Sir Paul McCartney is "so happy" with new girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The former Beatles legend says his lover - who recently accompanied him on a romantic tour of America - is "wonderful" and he enjoyed every moment of their holiday together.

He said: "I'm so happy. We had a brilliant time in the US. We stayed mainly in hotels but did the whole Route 66 gig. It's an amazing thing to do - I would recommend it.

Sir Paul McCartney is going ahead with his first performance in Israel despite receiving death threats from hard-line Muslim fanatics.

The musical legend is due to perform at the Friendship First concert, which marks Israel's 60th anniversary, later this month, and will be guarded by armed secret agents costing £1 million after suicide bombers threatened to attack his show.

Staunch vegetarian Sir Paul McCartney reportedly told a chef to "stick" his meal after he was served meat.

The musical legend was dining at New York restaurant Nick and Toni's with his girlfriend Nancy Shevell recently when the chef ordered a waiter to carry a meat-based amuse bouche to "his vegetarian guests".

The former Beatle has shunned traditional holiday destinations in favour of driving along America's legendary Route 66 in a classic 1989 Ford Bronco.

The couple left Paul's New York home last Thursday (30.07.08) and are expected to stay together for all of August - their longest time together since they were first linked last November.

Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills have been given a decree nisi.

The legal ruling, which allows six weeks for objections against the requested divorce, was made by a judge at London's High Court this morning (12.05.08).

Neither Paul or Heather attended the hearing, which deemed their marriage was over because they had been separated for more than two years.

A decree absolute will formally end the union in six weeks time, allowing the pair to remarry.
