The socialite is said to be a "strict" mother to daughter Harlow, two, and seven-month-old son Sparrow - her children with her fiance, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden - and is determined to only use natural products when she cooks for them.

Nicole Richie has given birth to a boy.

The TV star and her Good Charlotte rocker partner Joel Madden, who already have 20-month-old daughter Harlow, welcomed 7lbs 14oz Sparrow James Midnight Madden into the world yesterday (09.09.09).

The couple announced on Nicole's website: "In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes."

Nicole Richie is unsure whether she will marry Joel Madden.

The 27-year-old star - who has 14-month old daughter Harlow with Joel, and is currently expecting her second child with him - is content with her relationship and refuses to plan too far ahead.

She said: "I don't know about the future. I make it a custom not to plan the future. I may plan to and I may not."
