Bono thinks he is "overpaid".

The U2 rocker - who is worth an estimated £400 million - says he devotes so much of his time to charitable projects because he believes he has more money than he deserves to have.

Bono's driving "terrifies people".

The U2 frontman's bandmate The Edge insists the singer's "creative" driving - which sometimes see him trying to play the group's CDs while at the wheel - scares most people who ride with him.

The Edge said: "Bono's a creative driver who sees the rules of the road as helpful suggestions. He's fine as long as he's not trying to play you music at the same time. Male brains are too mono-orientated.

Bono is glad U2 are "uncool".

The Irish rocker - who performed at the BRIT Awards with his bandmates earlier this week - says "cool" musicians often aren't allowed to speak their minds and end up "crippled" by cynicism.

He said: "Because we were Irish and uncool we didn't realise how powerful it was to be uncool then. We just thought, 'We'd better get cool', but thank God we didn't, because it meant we could actually say things!

Bono's political campaigning nearly split up U2.

The philanthropic rocker says his bandmates - guitarist The Edge, bass player Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. - were convinced his prominent involvement in promoting numerous charities issues would end the Irish group.

Bono has reportedly been ordered to lose weight before U2 release their new album and start a proposed world tour next year.

The singer - who has been entertaining celebrity friends including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro on his yacht in France this summer - has been told he needs to lose his excess pounds before the band start their promotional duties again.
