'Irritating' Paul McCartney

Sir Paul McCartney has been voted the most irritating music star.

The Beatles legend was judged to be more annoying than James Blunt and Lily Allen, who made up the rest of the top three in the survey by UK music sales website musicmagpie.co.uk.

Paul, 65, was given the unwanted accolade for his headline-grabbing divorce from Heather Mills, his appearance and familiar pose.

Craig Dawson, a spokesperson for musicmagpie.co.uk, said: It's easy for musicians to get very irritating very quickly. Macca has driven people up the wall with his 'holier than thou' approach to his divorce, two-fingered peace gesture and penchant for wearing trainers with suits."

'Angels' singer Robbie Williams, who quit the UK to live in the US, came fourth, while troubled 'Rehab' star Amy Winehouse was in fifth place.

U2 frontman Bono, troubled Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty and Craig David also feature in the top 10.
