Penelope Cruz's personal happiness

Penelope Cruz's personal life is "the best" it has ever been.

The actress is currently dating her 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' co-star Javier Bardem and is delighted with the way her one-year relationship is going.

She said: "I have to tell you, my private life is at its best."

However, when pressed on the subject, Penelope - whose former lovers include Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey - refused to say anything else.

She said: "If you want to know more about him, then please ask him. I am not going to say any more. I never discuss my personal life.

"I love being in the spotlight for what I do, which is to act, but I find being in the spotlight for my personal life really uncomfortable."

The 34-year-old beauty dated Tom Cruise for three years until 2004 and insists they are still close.

She added to Grazia magazine: "I can only say good things about Tom. I know him pretty well, so I know what I'm talking about.

"Tom and I are good friends."
