Emily Blunt used to think acting was a ridiculous career choice.
The 'Devil Wears Prada' star has revealed she used to think she had chosen a "silly" job and almost thought about quitting acting to do something "worthwhile" instead.
She said: "A movie can change your life. I used to be very British about it all, 'This is a lot of silliness. I should be doing something worthwhile.'"
However, the 26-year-old beauty's opinion was altered dramatically when a distraught fan told her how much better she had felt in herself after watching her critically-acclaimed comedy film.
She said: "Then this woman came up to me and said, 'I have to tell you, I had the worst day. My husband divorced me, my kid got expelled from school. Then I watched 'The Devil Wears Prada' and I laughed my a*s off!' And I thought how marvellous it was that a simple comedy could have that effect on someone."
Emily is now settled in her career and engaged to US 'The Office' actor John Krasinski.
But the actress is adamant she is not only involved with him because he is an actor as well.
She said: "It's just what worked for me. It's to do with how the man feels, isn't it? Although this is a magical job, and I have shared that understanding with the person I'm with, it is still only what I do - it's not who I am. If you can make that distinction then you're in a good place."
