Posted on 31st May 2008 03:00PMCarl Barat wants to reform The Libertines with Pete Doherty.
The Dirty Pretty Things frontman dissolved his old band shortly after troubled Pete left in late 2004 due to his much-publicised drug battle and the subsequent tensions it had caused between the pair.
Carl has revealed he and Pete - who is now the lead singer of Babyshambles - have met to discuss working together again and Carl is ready to reunite with his former bandmate to make a new album.
He told Britain's Independent newspaper: "Once I've done what I'm doing now, it won't be hard to get in touch. It may detract in the short term from what I'm trying to achieve.
"It's certainly a friendship I cherish but I want to let it be for a while.
"A lot of my friends say you should only do a reunion if you're going to write a new album and I agree. Otherwise, it's just a cash-cow, a glory-milker. But I've still got 'Libertine' tattooed on my arm."
Dirty Pretty Things release their next album 'Romance at Short Notice' on June 30.
