Rhys Ifans used to drink shampoo.

The 'Boat That Rocked' star insists he never had any ambitions to be an actor when he was younger because he was too busy indulging in reckless behaviour.

He said: "My parents taught me a love of language, a love of stories and a love of plays but acting was never a childhood dream.

"I never did the shampoo advert thing like Kate Winslet did. I used to drink it instead."

The 40-year-old actor has also joked that he often strips off during drunken nights out because it is beneficial to his career.

Rhys added to Britain's Times newspaper: "It's how I get the jobs, man. Every time I get into a taxi I make sure they see my gusset."
